Cruel, cunning, cowardly and driven by ambition, Jackalman grudgingly serves under the leadership of S-S-Slithe in the hope of one day seizing ultimate power for himself. Like all the Mutants, Jackalman is loyal only to himself - initially easily impressed by the grandiose leadership style of S-S-Slithe, Jackalman's loyalty to the Reptillian leader gradually waned over the course of their many defeats at the hands of the ThunderCats. More intelligent than Monkian, but hampered by his cowardly nature, Jackalman's lust for power is rivalled only by his hatred of the Mutants' sworn enemies, the ThunderCats and their friends.

1.Exodus

Jackalman is the cunning, yet cowardly, leader of the Mutant faction known as the Jackalmen. Jackalman joined the alliance of the Mutant factions alongside the Reptilians and Monkians. Jackalman resented Slithes leadership over the Mutants, and made it clear he didn't need Slithes permission to do anything. Jackalman had never seen the Eye of Thundera before, but like the other Mutants was keen to possess it. As Thundera exploded, the Mutants fleet closed in on the fleeing Thunderians ship and boarded it, Jackalman was unsure what he was looking for, but Slithe had seen the Eye of Thundera before. Along with Slithe, Jackalman entered the chamber where the Sword of Omens was kept, seeing only Lion-O and Snarf, Jackalman trapped Snarf in a net as he and Slithe prepared to take the sword from Lion-O, but the swords power was activated, just as the Mutants forces around the ship were driven back, the Mutants were required to return to their ships while the Thunderians escaped. The Mutants later caught up with the Thunderians, following them to a planet called Third Earth, Jackalman and the others prepared to seize the Eye of Thundera and destroy the Thundercats, who were in suspension capsules, but they were once again thwarted by Lion-O and fled back to their ship.

2.The Unholy Alliance

As the Mutants searched the planet, Jackalman noted that there was one area that ooked particularly like their home planet, Plundarr. Jackalman, along with Monkian and Slithe, were called inside a black pyramid by a mysterious voice, and met Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra offered the Mutants an alliance and in exchange, they would share the power of the Eye of Thundera. The Mutants initially mocked Mumm-Ra's power, but Mumm-Ra sank their ship, depriving the Mutants of their forces on Third Earth.

4. The Slaves of Castle Plundarr

Jackalman next supervised the Brute Men slaves while the Mutants constructed their new home on Third Earth, Castle Plundarr, and did battle with Cheetara when the Thundercats attacked them.

39.The Feliner

Though Jackalman had initially resented Slithe's leadership, he eventually came to follow his orders and that of Mumm-Ra. Later, he was even briefly taking orders from Ratar-O.

55. Jackalman's Rebellion

Jackalman did desire more power however, and made a bold move when he stole Vultureman's new flying machine. The Other Mutants pursued Jackalman, and opened fire on him for his apparent betrayal. He eventually escaped, and met up with his new allies, Driller and Mole Master. He declared himself General Jackalman and prepared to go his own way with his new evil alliance Using Vultureman's new flying machine, Jackalman attacked villages and towns in Third Earth. The villagers went to the Thundercats for aid, who confronted Jackalman and his new allies. The Thundercats and the Mutants defeated Jackalman's forces, and Jackalman was forced to admit defeat and return to Castle Plundarr to face punishment.

49. The Anointment Trials Part Five: Trial of Evil

Jackalman also assisted Mumm-Ra on various occasions with his fellow Mutants, including attempting to stop Lion-O from reaching the Black Pyramid during the final trial before officially becoming the Lord of the Thundercats.

66-70. Thundercats Ho!

In addition, he assisted in the pursuit of the Star of Thundera which he saw Mumm-Ra apparently destroy.

71-75. Mumm Ra Lives

The cowardly Jackalman was startled to see Mumm-Ra return shortly afterwards and assisted in the freeing of the Lunataks, albeit reluctantly.

91-95. Thundercubs

He tried to convince Vultureman not to tell the Lunataks about the unguarded Tower of Omens when the Thundercats left, but later joined with the Lunataks to attack the tower alongside Monkian while Slithe and Vultureman were away.

109. The Circus Train

While the Lunataks began their campaign to take over Third Earth, Jackalman, like the other Mutants, laid low in Castle Plundarr. Later, Jackalman and Monkian were enticed aboard the circus train by Captain Bragg, who promised to have a beautiful female Mutant aboard, Jackalman was trapped aboard the train, and Bragg was revealed to be a bounty hunter sent to capture the Mutants. Slithe and Vultureman attempted to rescue Jackalman and punish Bragg, but also ended up as prisoners.

114. Return to Thundera Part Four

Jackalman and the other Mutants were later freed by Ma-Mutt under Mumm-Ra's orders, and once more attempted to destroy the Thundercats. Jackalman was defeated, and was again imprisoned in the circus train after being defeated by the Thundercats and their allies.
